What Is Cellulite?

Cellulite is caused by the pressure of fat against connective tissue and presents as indentations and undulations on the thighs and buttocks.

Women are more prone to cellulite as they have fewer fibrous bands that are straighter in structure. Whereas men have more fibrous bands that crisscross, reducing the likelihood of lumpy skin.

What Is Microneedling With Radiofrequency?

Microneedling is used to create controlled injuries to the skin’s surface, and radiofrequency to cause thermal damage to its deeper layers. This combination prompts a wound-healing effect and stimulates the growth of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid.

How Does Microneedling With Radiofrequency Improve Cellulite?

Some treatments, like Celfina, reduce cellulite by cutting the fibrous bands around subcutaneous fat to smooth the skin’s appearance.

In comparison, microneedling with radiofrequency creates new and stronger fibrous bands that are more similar to those that are found in men.

Specifically, the needles can penetrate six mm into cellulite and are able to apply radiofrequency to subcutaneous fat. This thermal damage increases collagen and builds more powerful bands in the treatment area.

Results

Aesthetic experts reveal that six months after one treatment of microneedling with radiofrequency, women noted a 30-40 percent improvement in the appearance of their cellulite.

Contraindications For Treatment

Individuals that have pacemakers are not candidates for microneedling with radiofrequency.

However, anticoagulant therapy is not an absolute contraindication for this treatment, but may cause increased bruising and inflammation.
